Jesse Pollock (b1993) makes work that is rooted in the exploration of material, tradition, and the contradictions of contemporary rural life. Working primarily with cast and sheet aluminium, he distorts and reconstructs the familiar —flowers, skulls, ladders, flagons, stools and other objects.

For Minor Attractions, Pollock has produced a series of vases resting on domestic supports. These new works engage with a series of repetitive actions that Pollock often revisits; biting into clay, pressing with knuckles and hammers, and melting and reforming materials to build up complex surfaces that register this instinctive and repetitive labour as fluid and patchwork form.
